How To Build A Niche Web Site In 9 Simple Steps

How To Build A Niche Web Site In 9 Simple Steps

By Donna Monday

Maybeyou’ve been wondering how to go about setting up a niche web site.Well, here’s a quick little article that will show you how to createyour very own affiliate web site. Please note: this is the cheat sheetversion. There is a lot more information you should learn about thissubject before you get started.

Step 1. Pick a Niche Subject

Thismay be the hardest part of your web site project. There’s literallytons of subjects to choose from. People are interested in a variety ofthings– from parrots to pilots. You don’t have to necessarily picksomething you’re interested in, but it helps.

You’re more likelyto do a better job at building your site when you have some interest inthe subject matter. It’s like taking a high school or college class. Some subjects are more interesting than others.
Make sure you choosesomething that a reasonable amount of people are actually searching foronline and want to find out more information about.

Here’s a free tool that will help you check the popularity of specific subjects: (http://www.nichebot.com)

Step 2. Do Keyword Research

Thisis a part that many people skip. I’ve made that mistake myself andsuffered the consequences– a failed web site. Even though it’s nice tothink that you can write anything you want and have total creativefreedom, not using keyword rich content is a BIG mistake.

I’drather lose some creative freedom and attract visitors to my site, thanhave a lot of flowery prose that zero people will see. You MUST includetargeted keywords in your web site copy. Also, make sure you use yourtargeted keywords in the upper third portion of your web site pages. This is also called optimizing your web site for the search engines.Use the Overture Keyword Tool for research:
http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion

Note:keywords must be relevant to the THEME (subject) of your site. Becareful not to over use them. Search engines don’t like keyword SPAM.

Step 3. Get A Domain Name

Havinga unique domain name is important, although some don’t agree. However,a unique domain name makes your site look more professional andtrustworthy to visitors. I use BuyDomains (http://www.buydomains.com).They are not the cheapest, but I stick with them because I like theireasy interface and good customer service. Nameboy(http://www.nameboy.com) is also good.

Step 4. Write Keyword Rich Content

Thismay be a hard step for those of you who don’t consider yourselveswriters. But, writing web site copy is not as hard as it seems. Justthink of it as having a conversation with a friend about a product orservice you’re really enthusiastic about.

Don’t think you canextol the benefits of your subject? Tune your TV into QVC or one of theother shopping networks to see how they can spend several minutestalking about the benefits of all kinds of mundane products. This iswhat you’ll be doing for your web site.

Your copy should featurea good balance of friendliness and professionalism. Remember, you’repassing along useful information to your visitor. Put yourself in theirshoes. What would you want to know about xyz subject if you were them? Now, write that down. Don’t forget to sprinkle targeted keywordsthroughout your copy. I print out a list of them to use for my sites.

Ifyou simply can’t put words onto the page and find yourself staring at ablank screen, then visit Internet marketing forums like WillieCrawford’s (http://www.williecrawford.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi) forsuggestions on finding writers. Or, visit Elance(http://www.elance.com).

Step 5. Build Your Web Site

Ok.You’ve created your copy. Now it’s time to build the actual physicalweb site. I use Homestead (http://www.homestead.com), but there aremany good point and click web site builders out there.

You havea lot of creative freedom on how you want your site to look (I preferblack copy on white backgrounds with photos), but remember that peopleare looking for attractive, easy-to-navigate sites with usefulinformation.

Step 6. Sign Up for Matching Affiliate Programs

You’vecreated a web site about xyz subject. Now look for affiliate vendorswho perfectly match the theme of your site. Integrate your affiliatesattractively into your web site copy. Don’t confuse your visitors bygiving them too many choices.

If you want to list a lot of affiliates on the same page, you can create a helpful“resource guide” page.

Step 7. Include Google Adsense Ads

Googlehas a great program for web site owners who wish to make a little extramoney for simply displaying google ads on their web site. It’s easy tosign up and free. Just visit google (http://www.google.com/ads) andsign up for their Adsense program. They’ll give you some html code tocopy and paste on your site.

While google decides which ads willactually appear on your site, you can decide how the google ads willlook– choose colors, borders, etc. and where to put them on your pages.

Step 8. Find Link Partners

Ifound out that exchanging links with other web site owners is a MUST ifyou want to improve your search engine rankings. Google especially willconsider your site more relevant if your site has other sites linkingto it. Also the ad copy from other sites, if relevant, can add morevaluable keyword content to your own site.

I use Linkmarket (http://www.linkmarket.net) to find credible web sites to exchange links with. It’s free to join.

Step 9. Write Articles to Promote Your Site

Ohoh. Here’s that writing thing again. Well, you better get used to it,because writing articles like this one (normally your articles will beabout the subject matter of your web site) will help give youraffiliate web site much needed exposure. It doesn’t matter if you writethem yourself or hire others (ghostwriters) to write them for you.

You’llfind that the best Internet marketers all write articles to promotethemselves, their newsletters, and products and services. Remember, there’s a reason the Internet is called the“information” super highway.

Afterwriting your articles, you can post them to article submission sites, which you can find by typing“article submission” in Google. People caneasily find your articles to use as free content for their sites.

Now,I suggest that you print this article out and refer to it often as yougo about creating the next great affiliate web site. Good luck!

RSS Feeds…Just Got Better!

RSS Feeds…Just Got Better!

By Terry Till

We all knowthat in the world of online internet marketing we need our sites to getgood quality targeted traffic on a daily basis. Whether we are justtrying to improve our web site traffic just in general or as a specificneed to increase our revenue from affiliate programs and adsense thelife blood of our business is and always will be quality laser targetedvisitors.

So in order to produce high quality web sites we allneeded to fill our web site pages with good content rich features andarticles, this being a two-fold strategy. Not only do we need highquality content to please our visitors and hopefully get them to returnto our sites in the future, good quality content also seduced the majorsearch engines into sending their bot crawlers to our sites on a dailybasis and thus ensuring that our web sites were placed and ranked wellin their search results. After all, well-ranked web sites in searchengine results equals more high quality laser targeted visitors and thecycle continues.

In our quest to fulfil the needs of this webcontent rss feeds came to the rescue, known by some as Rich SiteSummary, rss feeds offer a means of placing a link on your web sitefrom a feature source of interest and this will usually be updateddaily by the owner with new features and articles. This was a giantleap forward as far as web content was concerned and enabled many website owners to produce high quality web sites with fresh daily contentof interest to their visitors.

However nothing on the internetstays for long without some improvement and rss is no exception to therule as web site owners now have the opportunity to offer theirvisitors and the search engine bot crawlers an even more advanced formof rss feed.

Powerrss now offers feeds that can be randomised, shuffled and archived daily to make web pages even more appealing andyet give each web site owner an individual appearance of what mighthave been a good but widely used basic rss feed.

So now you can.

Automatically retrieve and displays keyword-rich (relevant) content on your web pages - without you lifting a single finger!

Eliminate the software footprints from your site by randomizing the RSS feeds before displaying them.

Inaddition, it allows you to automatically perform basic SEO pageoptimization by highlighting (e.g bold) the keywords, automaticallyinserts backlinks to your webpages (keyword is used as the anchor text)and the option to turn on the"nofollow"attribute to conserve the pagerank.

Use an automated archive system that builds your websitefor you - by adding a new (theme-related) page on your site each day -24×7!
