Make money online. Now.
Â
Of all the ways to make a real income on the internet, affiliate marketing is undoubtably among the the quickest and easiest — some even argue, the best. Affiliate market is basically selling products online using the networked or ‘linked’ power of the internet. Affiliate programs pays participants a commission on sales of that company’s products. Online affiliate members can be other websites or e-mail marketers.
Â
With all the tools and resources available online — and much of them for free — anyone can start up their own online enterprise. All it takes to be successful is inspiration, learning a few quick-to-pick-up skills (eg. making your website or blog), a product you’re interested in, a small investment of money where it’s useful, and a dedication towards building traffic to your website.
Â
There are three ways you can participate in affiliate marketing — by simply joining the affiliate programs that other companies offer, by starting your own program, or by doing a combination of the two. Joining an affiliate program is very simple. You can search to see if a particular company has an affiliate program, by using the keywords ‘affiliate program,’ and the company name. For even more choices of affiliate programs to join, you can make an account with a site that handles a multitude of them, such as NeverBlue Ads. Take a quick overview of the terms of service, and then fill in the required information on the screen. Some programs take a day or two to review your application for specific criteria (i.e. is your website compatible with the product that is being sold?, etc.). Upon verification, you’re usually sent an e-mail with a link to click on, to confirm your appplication. That’s it! You’ve now become an affiliate! Now what?
Â
The trick now is to generate interest in and traffic your site, with the usual ingredients: good quality content, promotion of your site through various means, and quality products. Programs typically pay you once a month via cheque, and some even have direct deposit in your bank account (NOTE: be wary of providing banking information to third parties online, without a thorough check of their credentials, however!) Each affiliate program will provide you with basic statistical reports, such as your sales and the commissions you’ve earned, and other programs will provide other, more complex statistics focused on other areas.
If you have compelling information on your site, are a part of a strong network of potential visitors, and have a great product that is relevant to that audience, you can start selling and growing your market and make a modest to fantastic income. You can track hot-selling items, and find creative ways to boost your presence, such as partnering with other specialized websites to cross-promote each other’s products and traffic (i.e. you might sell pets, and link/partner up with a site that sells pet supplies.) Good affiliate programs also offer ‘2nd tier’ commissions for you for getting sub-affiliates. And still other companies even offer afilliate programs and partnerships to manage affiliate programs, e-mail promotions and pay-per-click campaigns, such as TrafficAbsolute.com’s pay per click management service.
Â
If you have products of your own and want to develop (and can handle) a large demand, you can benefit immensely from creating an affiliate program for others to join. Quality affiliate program management sites, such as Share-A-Sale, can manage your affiliate program, with some fees (your program will then be included in their list of programs that people can join, just as you did above). Again, with a good, relevant product and excellent customer service and support, the costs of implementing your own product can soon reap much greater sales and revenue.Â
Â
For those of you thinking, ‘why, this is simply a pyramid-type set-up!’, you’re correct as far as the structure is concerned. But there are a number of factors which make this kind of set-up well-suited for the internet. Firstly, you can set it up and manage it by yourself — no employees or payroll to worry about. Secondly, it’s an online store open 24 hrs. a day, around the world to billions of pairs of eyes — a very complex task to do offline, even with a giant brick-and-mortar company operating internationally. Most of the processes involved are either physically handled by someone else (the company whose program you’ve joined), or through automated systems you can implement if it’s your own program (including automatic order-filling with dropshipping, etc.).
Â
Finally, the satisfaction of being able to make a living from an specialty or interest is what prompts many successful affiliate program members and entrepreneurs to focus on this form of marketing full-time. As the internet becomes the medium for more and more sales transactions, affiliate marketing is one of the most dynamic, hi-tech ways of making and growing business in the new millennium.
